Project Summary

The Santiniketan Ambedkar Buddhist Welfare Mission will serve as a spiritual, educational, and community center. Inspired by the values of peace, compassion, and social justice, which Dr. B.R. Ambedkar advocated, this project aims to create an inclusive space for worship, learning, and community engagement. The design reflects the harmony between traditional Buddhist architectural elements and the cultural heritage of Shantiniketan, while also incorporating modern, sustainable building practices.

The concept for the Santiniketan Ambedkar Buddhist Welfare Mission draws from the serene landscape of Ballavpur Dhanga and the rich cultural tapestry of Shantiniketan. It symbolize harmony, spirituality, and inclusiveness. The design approach is to integrate Buddhist principles of simplicity, mindfulness, and tranquility with the vibrant, artistic traditions of the region.

The site at Ballavpur Dhanga provides a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural relevance. It is surrounded by the lush greenery typical of the Shantiniketan area, with a rich history of cultural and intellectual contributions by Rabindranath Tagore. The design will respect and enhance the site’s natural elements, incorporating existing trees and water features to create a tranquil atmosphere.

Key design elements include open spaces for meditation, the use of natural materials, and sustainable features like solar energy and rainwater harvesting to reduce the environmental footprint.
